so i've been in paris for less than a week, and it feels like it's been forever.
so far i've learned:
there isn't as much english speaking going on in paris as one would think
coke and pepsi are really popular, but quite costly
young parisian guys are scary
old parisian men are dirty...well...some of them
there are cops everywhere. (i saw a few on roller blades. yes, roller blades. gun and all on roller blades.)
most visiting americans don't realize that they are really fricken loud compared to the french people around them, and they are in fact embarrassing themselves.
you're not allowed to walk on the grass. ever.
i can't wait for classes to start so the group tours can finally end. it is so embarrassing being paraded around, and even worse when there are morons in the group that refuse talk at an acceptable volume.

in addition...
the other day i was sitting in the foreign languages building before a class and this guy and girl come up to me and tell me that they are learning english and their teacher wants them to ask americans to teach them some slang....you'll never believe what came to my mind after a long pause thinking.....
..."foxy"... as in "woah, she's foxy"....
i am so ashamed of myself. but it's funny so i wanted to share.

My computer crashed. That means hard drive erased. That means I lost all my everything.
I killed my third iPod...good thing i got that extended warranty thing. on to the fourth...
I got 108% on a french test (je suis chaude!)
I learned that eating straight up sugar (or smarties as i prefer) does not make kids wild, just gives them cavities.
I learned that i do not understand poems, especially if they are written by crazy french people.
I found that plain yogurt with pineapple "tidbits" is the best thing to eat...ever.
I still love my matthew. more every day. (il est chaud)

has anyone else seen that commercial for some cereal, i think some sort of bran flakes, with the construction worker guy? he talks about being "regular" now that he eats this cereal, and in the background are trucks dumping stuff on the ground. dumping. that's pretty effing gross.

mankind's desperation to set order and find reason has surfaced yet again.
constantly in search of physical proof through science, ease of mind through religion, or a culprit to blame for our sorrows, people cannot seem to accept that "why?" will not always be answered. you can go through old essays, you can find out their favorite music or video game, but it must be accepted that order may never come.
our universe is a system of chaos...of ever growing entropy.
i mean no disrespect to those who died, and i offer no sympathy to a mass murder, but we cannot pretend that we will ever really know why people do the things they do.

the artwork for the cover of harry potter and the deathly hallows was revealed today. i was kind of fond of the all black cover used up until now, but the new cover does look pretty cool.

i think for the first time ever i actually feel offended by other people's actions. not to mention embarrassed to be on this campus.
normally i just don't care what other people do.
i don't care that the student body at this university dedicates an entire day to drinking, i don't care if all those people are wearing green, and i don't care if they hurt themselves because they are drunken fools.
but to equate binge drinking and disruptive behavior to a single ethnic group is not acceptable.
some real classy bastards decided to make their unofficial t-shirts dedicated to the recently retired, and offensive, chief illiniwek. but those morons really put the pepper on the nacho, yes that's my little version of "icing on the cake", by combining 2 racially offensive images. it was the chief, head-dress and all, but with an orange beard, no shirt, and a clover tattoo on his arm with a little poem to effect of "the chief is dead, but honor our tradition with your liver and your brain". those witty bastards even made it rhyme.
if this day wasn't so racist, i would not care. if people just had "Wear a green shirt and get really drunk" day, that would be just fine with me. but that's not what this is. the university is too focused on arresting underage drinkers that they are overlooking a very common problem in this society. it's no more acceptable to say "drink 'til you're irish" than it is to say "eat fried chicken 'til you're black" or "have babies until you're mexican". just because drinking is seen as a fun thing to do does not make it any more okay to equate it with one single group of people. and just because irish people are mostly white does not make it any less offensive.
and to the girl that almost got run over by the bus this morning because you were drunk at 8:15, that is why you don't chase moving vehicles. moron.

i've been having a lot of dreams lately of my mom killing me.
last night she hit me on the head a lot with a horse shoe until i was unconscious. then once i came to she shot me a bunch of times.
it was the 7th shot to the throat that finally did me in.
it makes me wake up in a bad mood and i never feel really rested.
i can't wait to go back to school and not see her for a long time.
